Loretta A Donaldson, 96, of Dimmick Township, died peacefully Thursday, August 1, 2019, surrounded by her family at Illinois Valley Community Hospital. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 am Tuesday, August 6, 2019, in St Hyacinth’s Church in LaSalle with the Very Reverend Paul Carlson officiating. Burial will be at St. Valentine’s Cemetery in Spring Valley. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7pm in Ptak Funeral Home in Peru with a Rosary to be recited at 7 pm. Additional visitation will be Tuesday morning in the church at 9:30 am until the time of service. Loretta was born on September 4, 1922, in Peru to Ladislaus and Mayme (Czajka) Chlebowski. Mrs. Donaldson was a graduate of LaSalle Peru High School in 1940. She married John Donaldson of Dalzell on April 17, 1948, in Quincy. Loretta was a homemaker and managed the Carus Employees Credit Union for over 30 years. She was a loyal member of Sacred Heart Church in Dimmick and then attended St. Hyacinth’s Church in LaSalle. She was an active member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Her greatest love was her family. She is survived by six children; John “Jack” Donaldson Jr. of Dimmick, Mary (Ron Roof) Olszewski of Oglesby, Bernadette (Paul) Kinsella of Peru, Susan (Ed) Olszewski of LaSalle, Margaret (Alex) DeRango of San Diego, California, and Jeffrey (Carol) Donaldson of Bloomington. Five Grandchildren; Derek (Michelle) Olszewski, Stephen Barry, Nicole (John) Hurst, Alison (Jason) Goode, and Christina (Mick) Pienta, six step-grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 1985; her son James in 1982, one great-grandson, and one step-grandson. Pallbearers will be Jack and Jeff Donaldson, Derek Olszewski, Steve Barry, Paul Kinsella, Ed Olszewski, and Alex DeRango.
