Raymond "Ray" Galas

Raymond “Ray” Galas 86 of Peru. Died 9:40 AM October 29, 2016 in Heritage Healthcare Center Peru. Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday in the Ptak Funeral Home with a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St Mary’s Church in Peru. Monsignor J. Brian Rejsek will officiate. Burial will be in St Valentine Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00- 10:30 in the funeral home. Ray was born June 15, 1930 in Peru to Casmir and Julia (Seabeck) Galas. He married Irene Mikus February 11, 1956 in St Valentine Church. He worked at US Silica and then worked for the City of Peru up till his retirement. He also bartended at the Luna Nova and Eagle’s Club in Peru. Ray also refereed High School Basketball and football in the area for many. He was an avid Cub fan and a member of St Mary’s Church and St Mary’s Choir. Ray is survived by his daughter Lisa Bland of Spring Valley and 1 son Mike (Rachel) Galas of Peru. His Grandchildren Greg and Arthur Bland. Megan, Kyle, Samantha, David, Joel and Katie Galas. 1 Great Grandson Max and Great Granddaughter Jemma. 1 Brother Jim Galas of Peru. Ray was preceded in death by his wife in 2010 and his son Jeff in 2013. The pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
