Andrew J. Piwonski

Andrew J. Piwonski Jr. 78 of Peru passed away on August 9, 2021, in St Margaret Health of Peru. Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Monday, August 16, 2021, at St Valentine Cemetery. Fr John Baptist will officiate. The Peru Veteran’s Memorial Group will conduct graveside military rites. Cremation has been accorded. Ptak Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Andrew was born February 19, 1943, in La Salle to Andrew H. and Genevieve (Liss) Piwonski. He married Carol Wozniak on December 16, 1972, in La Salle. Andrew served in the Army from 1960-1963. He was a sheet metal worker with Local #1 for 39 years. He was a member of Peru VFW #8232, AMVETS, and Illinois Valley Crime Commission for 10 years. Andy also served as 1st ward alderman in Peru for 8 years and served as a Precinct Committee Men for 20 years. He was a 25-year member of the Peru Rescue Squad and was a very active member of the Peru Sportsman Club. Andy was an avid outdoorsman. Andy is survived by his wife Carol of Peru. 1 daughter Crystal (Mike) Loughran of Peru and 1 son Andy “Joe” (Carol) Piwonski of La Salle. 2 Granddaughters Brittany (Julian) Riggs and Brittany (Brock) Turner. 2 sisters Cynthia (John) Cuffe of Kansas and Marilyn (Michael) Cuffe of Florida.
