Joseph H. Posevina, from Spring Valley, IL, passed away at the age of 77 on October 29, 2025, at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in LaSalle, IL. Born on October 13, 1948, in LaSalle, IL to Herman and Bernadine (Croissant) Posevina, Joseph graduated from Hall High school in Spring Valley, IL in 1966 where he played both baseball and football. He attended Columbia University in New York City obtaining a BA (economics) and an MBA (business economics, finance).
Joseph also served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1973 as a military policeman while stationed in Korea, where he also met his wife, Suki (Lee) Posevina. Joseph’s career was in the chemical consulting industry, and he and his wife lived and worked in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Texas.
Joe was a loving father and was involved as a coach/mentor in his children’s activities while they were growing up, which included his son’s baseball league, his daughter’s competitive figure skating, and both their classical music lessons. He also had a passion working with personal computers and later owned and operated a computer store before retiring.
Joseph is survived by his former spouse Suki Posevina of Houston, TX, his son Michael Posevina of Austin, TX, his daughter Lisa (Posevina) Dillon of Houston, TX, and his granddaughter Charley Dillon of Houston, TX. Joseph was preceded in death by his sister Linda (Posevina) Balensiefen of Aurora, IL, and his granddaughter Lucy Dillon of Houston, TX.
Cremation rite shave been accorded. Ptak Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
