Linda A. Hejl 68 of Peru. Passed away on October 29, 2025, at OSF St. Elizabeth in Peru from an extended lung illness.

Mass of Catholic burial was held at St Valentine Church. Services were private. Cremation rites were accorded after the services. Ptak Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Linda was born February 27, 1957, in La Salle to Richard and Irene “Dolly” (Zurinski) Dittmar. She was married to David Hejl for 44 years. Linda was a teacher’s aide at Tonica Grade School for over 19 years. She was also eucharistic Minister at St Valentine Church for many years.

Linda loved her family, painting and took pride in her home. She loved her time at Tonica Grade School. To this day students still say hi Mrs. Rainbow because of her rainbow-colored coat, hat, and mittens. Linda loved all animals, especially her dogs. She requested her dog Bailey visit her at the hospital in her final hours. She loved music and dancing and was famous for her Summer pool parties and loved to decorate and bake for the holidays.

Linda is survived by her husband David, her daughter Becky and son Dan (Kalynn Anderson) all of Peru. She is survived by her sisters Mary (Monty) Whipple of Utica, Christine (Gary) Chalkey of Streator; brothers Richard (Mida) Dittmar of Oglesby, Patrick Dittmar of Oglesby, and many, many nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
